APRIL 8 STRUCTURE FIRE IN STURTEVANT

The South Shore Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire on April 8, at 3050 86th Street in Sturtevant. The initial dispatch occurred at 10:48 p.m., with the first arriving unit on scene within five minutes at 10:53 p.m., encountering heavy fire conditions upon arrival.

Crews initiated an aggressive interior fire attack and conducted a primary search of the structure. During operations, one victim was located and removed from the building. The individual was immediately provided emergency medical care and transported to Columbia St. Mary’s Burn Center, where they remain in critical condition. Crews helped 14 additional occupants safely exit the building.

Fire suppression efforts continued for approximately two hours, with the fire declared under control and loss stopped at 12:36 a.m. on April 9.

The structure sustained significant fire, smoke, and water damage as a result of the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The American Red Cross is assisting the occupants of the building.
