The Village of Mount Pleasant would like to thank Mr. T. John and Nannette Greenwood for their attention and generosity to the Campus Park Project. Through their $98,000 donation, the Village was able to purchase and construct the Greenwood Family Playground.
Ribbon-cutting for the Greenwood Family Playground took place on Monday, October 9th. The playground is now open for all, come check it out!
With many thanks to the Greenwood Family for making the Greenwood Family Playground possible!
We are excited to announce the start of the Campus Park Project. The Mount Pleasant Campus Park is located at 8500 Campus Drive, Mount Pleasant, WI, between the Village Municipal Campus to the north and the Sealed Air YMCA to the west.
The Campus Park Project took shape in 2009, when the Village municipal campus moved to its current location along 90th Street north of Highway 20. 38 acres of green space were designated adjacent to the new Village Hall to develop into a park.
The first milestone for the park is the Greenwood Family Playground, completed in autumn 2017 through the generous donations of the Greenwood Family. This playground was built alongside the construction and paving of an entry drive and parking lot, for easy access to the first of the park's many amenities.
Meet the Team
It will take dozens of individuals to make the Campus Park a reality, from volunteers and fundraisers to donors, Village staff, committee members, and construction staff. Some of the key team members for the Campus Park Project are:
(pictured) Doug Wroblewski (Vice Chair, Park Advisory Board), Joe Maier (Chair of the Campus Park Ad-Hoc Committee), Terri Maier (Chair, Park Advisory Board), Suanne Moesch (Miller Associates Playground representative), and Jim Svoboda (Parks Manager).
Instrumental to managing the construction of the Campus Park is Steven Houte (Village Engineer and Public Works Manager, Mount Pleasant).
When completed, the Campus Park will have a playground, band shell, a large pavilion with concessions area and public restrooms, tennis and pickleball courts, a sand volleyball court, and two softball diamonds, along with a large open green space for future possibilities. Check out the showcase video at the top of the page, to see what the Campus Park has in store.
