2020 Citizen's Police Academy Update

The Village of Mount Pleasant Police Department is sorry to announce the 2020 Citizen's Police Academy class has been cancelled. This is not a decision we have taken lightly and there are two overriding concerns that have caused us to make the decision at this time.

First, our primary concern is always the safety and health of those participating in the class. We have designed the class around student interaction and participation. With the current social distancing recommendation many of the interactive activities would not be possible.

Second, because of the increasing number of positive cases and the evolving recommendations from the CDC to maximize public safety, we felt it best to cancel the class.

We are excited to host the citizen's academy in the fall of 2021 as long as conditions are suitable for safe participation.  Thank you for your understanding and support of the Mount Pleasant Citizen's Police Academy. We will continue to do everything we can to help and support our community in staying safe, informed, and connected.

The Mount Pleasant Police Department is committed to creating a cooperative relationship between the police and those who live in, work in, or visit our community. To fulfill our continuing effort to improve police/community understanding and cooperation, we have implemented the Citizen Police Academy Program. Hopefully, by being exposed to the duties of the police department employees, you will have a clearer understanding of their role in our Village and in today's society.

Our program is supported by grants made available through the Racine Community Foundation.
