The Village of Mt. Pleasant is geographically one of the largest and populated Villages in the State of Wisconsin, measuring approximately 36 square miles and having approximately 27,000 residents. There are five major state highways traveling through Mt. Pleasant, which bring people safely to their destinations. The Village is bordered on the east by Lake Michigan and the City of Racine, on the north by the Village of Caledonia, on the west by the Town of Yorkville and on the south by the Town of Somers, Kenosha County.
Our department emphasis is on Community Policing to instill cooperation with the citizens and business owners to make Mt. Pleasant a safe place to live, work, and visit. Our citizens are served by the Racine County Communications Center, which provides 24/7 police, fire and EMS dispatch to your call for service. The police department serves a community of almost 27,000 residents however the population increases daily with the local business and companies that call Mt Pleasant home. We are bordered by I94 to the west and Lake Michigan to the east making our jurisdiction over 36 sq miles.
The police department has 43 sworn officers. 3 are assigned to investigations, 10 command staff, 1 K-9 handler and his partner and 1 officer assigned to Case High School as the School Resource Officer. Officers are trained in traffic investigations, crime scene processing, water rescues and underwater evidence recovery, motorcycle patrol, helicopter air support unit and community policing.

All of the operations of the Police Department are enhanced by a strong focus on specialized and advanced training for its officers. Such continuous education is the hallmark goal, and enables the Village of Mount Pleasant Police Department to provide its services in an exemplary manner and with the highest degree of professionalism.
The police and fire commission consist of five citizens who reside within the Village of Mt. Pleasant. Each member is appointed to a five year term by the Village .The police and fire commission are responsible of hiring the most qualified personnel for the Village of Mt. Pleasant Police Department and South Shore Fire Department. Currently the police and fire commission consist of the following members.
