The assessor is responsible for discovery, listing and valuation of all taxable property in the Village of Mount Pleasant. Discovery involves collecting information from various sources to identify all real estate parcels and taxable personal property within the village. Listing is where the assessor lists information about the process necessary to produce an equitable estimate of value. Valuation is the process where the assessor uses professionally acceptable appraisal techniques to estimate the market value of all property within the village.

Beginning in 2011, the village will begin assessing each property on an annual basis. Every property owner will receive a notice of their estimated property value each year.
