The Village contracts through GFL Environmental for waste disposal and recycling collection services. Collection services for both are fully-automated.

Collection Schedules

All garbage collection is weekly and all recycling collection is bi-weekly. A copy of the 2023 GFL Environmental A-B Week collection schedule is available here. To determine the collection week and day of the week collection for your property address, view the Garbage and Recycling Collection Zone map here. 

There is no collection service on the following holidays:  

  • New Year's Day
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

Following a no-collection holiday, all routes are pushed back one day. For example: if Christmas Day is Tuesday, and your collection day is normally Wednesday, you will be serviced on Thursday. Customers who are normally serviced on Friday will be serviced on Saturday. Holidays that fall on a weekend do not impact the collection schedule. 

Persons With Disabilities

To assist persons with disabilities, Mount Pleasant has contracted with GFL Environmental to provide walk-up collection services to those who qualify. 

Qualified residents must meet the following criteria: 

  1. Be unable to wheel their collection bins to the curb. 
  2. Have no other person, such as a spouse, live-in family member, or personal assistant,  available to assist with bin placement. 
  3. Be certified by a physician as a person needing assistance. 
  4. Fill out and return the required  Request for Exemption Form.

Christmas Tree Collection

Curbside Christmas tree collection typically takes place in January and runs for a period of two weeks. Collection day announcements are posted on the Village website and social media accounts. If inclement weather delays the two-week collection, new dates will be determined. 

  • Trees are picked up on your regularly scheduled collection day
  • Place trees at the curb line or edge of the road
  • DO NOT place trees in the roadway
  • Trees must be decoration-free
  • Wreaths can be placed in your regular trash
