Mission Statement

The Village of Mount Pleasant Police Department is dedicated to providing quality services to the citizens of our community. The core function of the Department is, and always will be, to ensure the safety of our citizens and protect all persons in the Village from crime. The mission of the Police Department, however, also encompasses a much broader range of services in that the Department, on a daily and regular basis, provides help, assistance, and guidance to the citizens of the Village on a wide variety of noncriminal matters, issues, and concerns. Most importantly, and no matter what task is entrusted to the Village of Mount Pleasant Police Department, its members will provide its services to all persons in a proactive and problem-solving manner, and always with compassion and the highest degree of professionalism.

Our Department

The police department has 48 sworn officers. The department has 10 command staff overseeing the operations of the department.  Four are assigned to investigations, two K-9 handlers and their partners, one officer assigned to Case High School as the School Resource Officer, and two officers assigned to the Lakeside COP House.  Officers on the department  are trained in traffic investigations, crime scene processing, motorcycle patrol, and community policing.

 

All of the operations of the Police Department are enhanced by a strong focus on specialized and advanced training for its officers. Such continuous education is the hallmark goal, and enables the Village of Mount Pleasant Police Department to provide its services in an exemplary manner and with the highest degree of professionalism.

The Police Department serves a community of almost 27,000 residents however the population increases daily with the local business and companies that call Mt Pleasant home. We are bordered by I-94 to the west and Lake Michigan to the east making our jurisdiction over 36 sq miles.

If you are traveling on STH 20/Washington Ave turn north onto 90th St and continue north for .4 miles and you will see our department on your right side.  If you are traveling on CTH C/Spring St turn south and continue south for .7 miles and you will see our department on your left side. Click here for a map.

Fingerprinting

Fingerprinting services are $10.00 for residents who live or work in the Village of Mount Pleasant.  The hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:00am until 1:00pm.  Residents will be asked to show proof of residency or employment and are asked to bring their own print cards.  If a person does not have print cards we will electronically take your prints.  Residents who live outside the Village of Mount Pleasant are asked to contact their local police or sheriffs department for assistance.
