Mission Statement

The Mount Pleasant Police Department is committed to providing dedicated service to maintain order, prevent crime, and to protect life and property while improving the quality of life for our valued citizens. We will pride ourselves on demonstrating professionalism, accountability, respect, transparency, compassion, and collaboration in the course of carrying out our mission. We are also committed to the utmost in wellness and safety for the men and women who proudly serve the Village of Mount Pleasant.

It is the goal and objective of the Mount Pleasant Police Department to grow and adapt to the ever-changing needs of the community, and to provide the highest quality level of service and protection to our citizens to make the Village of Mount Pleasant one of the most desirable and welcoming communities in which to live, work, and visit. This can be achieved through the diligent guidance and implementation of the following core values:

Our Department

The Mount Pleasant Police Department has an authorized strength of 56 sworn members consisting of 12 command staff members who oversee the department's operations. We currently have five detectives assigned to the Detective Bureau, two     K-9's and handlers, one School Resource Officer (SRO) assigned to Case High School and Westridge School, and two Community Oriented Policing (COP) Officers assigned to the Lakeside COP House. In addition, we have one officer assigned to the multi-jurisdictional Gang Task Force as well as the Metro Drug Unit.  

The Mount Pleasant Police Department stresses building community relationships and trust through Community Oriented Policing.  In addition, the department places a strong focus on specialized and advanced training for its members. Continuous training and education allows the department to provide its services with the highest degree of professionalism, integrity, and efficiency.

The Mount Pleasant Police serves a community of almost 27,000 residents; however, the population increases daily with the local businesses and companies that call Mount Pleasant home. We are bordered by I-94 to the west and Lake Michigan to the east, making our jurisdiction approximately 36 square miles.

Directions

If you are traveling on STH 20/Washington Avenue turn north onto 90th Street and continue for .4 miles and you will see our department on your right side. If you are traveling on CTH C/Spring St turn south on 90th Street and continue for .7 miles.  You will see our department on your left side. View a map (PDF)

Fingerprinting

Fingerprinting services are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00am to-1:00pm.  The cost is $10.00 for those that live or work in the Village of Mount Pleasant. Residents will be asked to show proof of residency or employment, and asked to bring their own fingerprint cards. If you do not have print cards we will collect your fingerprints electronically. For those that live or work outside the Village of Mount Pleasant, please contact your local police or sheriff's department for assistance.
